Forres House Bridge Club resumes on the 6th September at 7.00pm in Forres House Community Centre. New members are welcome and can get in touch through the Contact Page.
On the 3rd May Forres House Bridge held their annual Lunch at the Ramnee Hotel. New president, Julie Wrightson welcomed everyone to the meal. After the meal Dorothy Marshall was announced as winner of this season’s Chris Regan Trophy and was presented with the trophy. Alice Young, the previous president, paid tribute to Margaret Rankin who as one of the original members had been instrumental in the founding of the club in 1973. In recognition of her services to the club Margaret was made an honorary member and presented with flowers and a certificate by Julie and Alice. Afterwards the members enjoyed a friendly game of bridge.
Forres House Bridge Club held their AGM on Wednesday 26th April 2017. At the meeting Alice Young and June Gray stood down from their positions of President and Secretary/Treasurer respectively and were thanked for their contributions. The club welcomed Julie Wrightson as the new President together with Eileen Ross as Treasurer and Morag Milne as Minute Secretary. The other committee members are: Margaret Rankin, Margaret Watson and Allan Bell.
There was a good turn out on the 1st March for the latest round of the Chris Regan Trophy. In first place was June Gray and in second place was Alasdair Morton.
Another Round of the Chris Regan Trophy was held on the 1st February and the results were: 1st – Frank Ritchie, 2nd – Jeannie Cooper.
The club are delighted to see so many new members this year including some travelling through from Nairn. The club are pleased to welcome them and hope they continue to enjoy their Bridge with us.
On the 4th January the club held its first competition night of the new year. In first place was Peter Wrightson and in second place was Dorothy Marshall.
The Club held its annual party night on the 14th December. At the end of the meal, Margaret Boyd entertained the members with recitals of her own Doric poems. Afterwards a short Bridge competition was held. A very pleasant night was enjoyed by all.
On the last competition night of the year, Dorothy Marshall was in first place and Allan Bell came second.
The club are sad to report the death of Dennis Young. Dennis died in Dr. Gray’s Hospital on Wednesday 23rd November following a fall at his home. He was the oldest member of the club (aged 94) and a very popular and respected member. He was an excellent player. His funeral is on Monday 5th December at Inverness Crematorium
In the second round of the Chris Regan Trophy, held at the club on 2 November, the results were: 1st – Allan Bell, 2nd – June Gray and 3rd – Julie Wrightson.
